Bryan van Hulst Miranda is a freelance journalist from Ecuador and the Netherlands with a track-record of in-depth reporting, analysis and opinion-shaping on issues of race, gender, the environment, corporate power and state violence in both their home countries.

 

Their work has been published on Al Jazeera English, teleSUR English, Remezcla, Equal Times, Waging Nonviolence, Truth-Out, Open Democracy, among others.

Besides having being republished across the web--including major opinion sites like Juan Cole and Joop--their critical analysis and reporting has also been cited in numerous academic papers, books as well as Wikipedia entries.

They hold an MSc in Middle East Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies with a specialization in the politics of resistance, gender and sexuality, and state power. Their BA in liberal arts at University College Utrecht was obtained with a major in political science and a minor in journalism. 

As a trans-atlantic non-binary person, they stand out for their nonconformity, creative and critical thinking, cross-cultural outlook, curiosity and willingness to take risks.
